            There are a number of educational programs or certifications that cover many of the topics addressed in this guide in much greater detail such as The American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation and the Cancer Exercise Training Institute.  If you are seeking a certification or specialization in a certain area, you should consider an organization that has a focus on that area.

            This course tries to maintain consistency amongst the various fitness organizations that offer certifications or specializations in exercise programming for special populations as there is tremendous agreement for most of the topics covered.  This course was developed using peer-reviewed, evidence-based articles and textbooks.  Accordingly, each author has a term for Clinical Exercise.Some use medical exercise, some medical fitness, etc.  When discussing another author’s work, we have used the term the original author used.
