Module 11 – Rotation
AT THIS POINT, YOU SHOULD…
You should have the entire form memorized and feel very comfortable with each move. You should also begin to understand how the principle of columns affects every move and how to teach this principle.
WHAT YOU WILL NOW LEARN:
The second principle is rotation. Our bodies are meant to rotate and Tai Chi helps train the correct muscles to gently rotate around your central column. You will learn how to teach rotation and how it relates to columns so that your students can incorporate this idea into each move in the form.
ACTION PLAN:
Watch the entire video once all the way through. Then as you watch it again, stop the video and practice each move as it is presented. Then go through the form several times focusing on how the principle of rotation is important to each move.
You should also study each of the three class plans for rotation and practice teaching rotation as it is presented in each plan. The class plans break the concept down so you only focus on a few of the ideas at a time and you don’t overwhelm your students.
