Module 12 – Balance
AT THIS POINT, YOU SHOULD…
You should now start to recognize that Tai Chi is much more than just the moves. You should be able to demonstrate the principles of columns and rotation as you do the form and you should begin to feel comfortable teaching these ideas.
WHAT YOU WILL NOW LEARN:
The next principle is simply balance and it is what most of your students will see immediate improvement in when they first start taking Tai Chi. You will learn how to teach balance so that your students can understand how to incorporate this idea into each move in the form and how to apply it to their everyday lives.
ACTION PLAN:
Watch the entire video once all the way through. Then as you watch it again, stop the video and practice each move as it is presented. Then go through the form several times focusing on how the principle of balance can be taught with each move.
You should also study each of the three class plans for balance and practice teaching balance as it is presented in each plan. The class plans break the concept down so you only focus on a few of the ideas at a time and you don’t overwhelm your students.
