Module 17 – Breathing

You should be able to go through the entire form focusing on one principle at a time. You should also start to be able to combine the martial arts applications with one other principle, ex. Balance and martial arts application.

WHAT YOU WILL NOW LEARN:

This principle is the one that your students think they will start with from day one. It is actually a very high level concept in Tai Chi. You will learn how to teach breathing so that your students can incorporate this idea into each move in the form. It is very related to the martial arts applications.

ACTION PLAN:

Watch the entire video once all the way through. Then as you watch it again, stop the video and practice each move as it is presented. Then go through the form several times focusing on how the principle of breathing is important to each move.

You should also study each of the three class plans for breathing and practice teaching breathing as it is presented in each plan. The class plans break the concept down so you only focus on a few of the ideas at a time and you don’t overwhelm your students.
